Sign designs submitted by C & C Signs. 1} 16 ft. by 18" for Station:
"Home of the SCV Historical Society" for $285. 2) to go under the Heritage
.Junction sign: "Operated by SCV Historical Society" for $30. 3} 3 ft. by 4
ft. metal sign for Hart Park gate: "Saugus Train 50 feet" for $95. Total:
S410. M/S/P to accept bids for signs, with the additional cost for adding
"and Heritage Junction" to sign #3.
Utilities: Fire Marshall inspection--flow at the Station adequate; a
line could simply be added to Heritage Junction for water.
Kingsburry House: Windows sanded after priming for painting.
Mitchell Adobe: Roofer ordered shingles. Discussion on whether to
cut roof to continue fireplace up past roof. Passed to new Restoration
Committee.
Edison House: Work on front steps. Getting estimates on cement for
stairs. M/S/P to authorize $250 for cement for front steps.
Ramona Chapel: Hole filled in and area sanded in back of Chapel.
Ready to paint.
Schoolhouse: No report given.
F. STATION:
June 2 wedding reception.
Maintenance Contract: not too dependable, nothing done.
Trash will continue to be picked up by grounds team of Hart Park.
G. yOLU~TEER: Asking Committee Chairmen for volunteer needs.
H. MEMBERSHIP OUTREACH: Displays purchased for Society. invitation and
literature. 5-6 to be put out initially. Complimentary issues of the
Dispatch to be handed out by Membership Outreach Cofflffl.ittee members.
I • EDUCATION OUTREACH~ •
Tom Mason Memorial Photo Ew:hibit a success. Winning photos to be
published in May 23 Signal. 67 photos entered. Approximately 100 visitors
to exhibit. 19 photos chosen for possible inclusion in 1991 calendar.
Girl Scouts sponsoring July 19 workshop for elementary and Junior High
girls, with 2 hour sessions. Open to suggestions and ideas.
3.. PUBLIC RELATIONS: Much publicity the past month on Olde Towne Days
and other Society activities.
K. HISTORIAN: No report.
L. WAYS AND NEANS: Cm11mittee formed; first meeting May 14. Letter
formed to be sent to ail me-fflbers regarding wills and trusts. Next meeting
Aug. 6.
M. ~IBRARY;_ No report.
N. LANDMARK:
Melody Ranch future in question. Rumors that it is for sale.
O.ld Courthouse is for sale but not in escrow. Sellers want to
preserve building. Status of bid from AA not known.
Survey regarding development of downtown Newhall continues, with
personal contact of Newhall merchants.
O. DISPATCH: Deadline for June's Dispatch is June 4.
P. ORAL H~STORIE~~ Request to replace blank tapes when using recorder.
Committee on Aging requesting support for "Meals on Wheels." Individual
donations rather than as a Society was decided. Genealogy Club interested
in helping with oral histories. Discussion continues.
