Chaos and confusion were again a memorable part of
       personalized class registration. Bewildred newcomers
learned that enrolling with choices as to schedule and
teachers was a many-step process. Although it clearly
was the best alternative, it entailed waiting in many
long lines for at least two hours.
A tightened format made Spring Registration go
more smoothly and considerably faster. Students lined
up outside the multi-purpose room and were sorted
into small groups. One at a time, these groups were
sent to get registration packets and directed to the
girls' gym. There, numbered checkpoints made matters
       a I ot easier.
An unexpected snowstorm arose the morning of
I unior registration and immobilized much of Saugus.
This lightened things up a great deal, but also caused
a schedule mix-up. A make-up day was held and, al-
though it was raining students waited semi-patiently.

Band members ana athletes had permission to re-
gister first since they had certain classes to take specific
periods. After these people had finished some classes
                                               1
had been filled to capacity. Many stuaents resented
their priority and the issue was a target of many A.S.B.
       election speeches.
          Although the walk-around registration procedure
received a lot of criticism, the whole student body was
upset when it was announced that 1974 Fall Registra-
tion would be a return to the old computerized system.
