Chinese New Year Celebration
Newhall, California

January 23, 2012 — To help commemorate the Year of the Dragon and Chinese New Year, thirty-eight children and parents created dragon hand-puppets and participated in a Dragon Parade at the Newhall Library.

It was the City of Santa Clarita Public Library system's first Chinese New Year celebration, the system having come into existence July 1, 2011. It was also the last Chinese New Year celebration at the old Newhall Library building at 22704 9th Street. The city opened its big, new Old Town Newhall Library on Lyons Avenue September 29, 2012.
