Barbara Lucille Manriquez, 18, and Kenneth Norbert Allen, 19, were married April 27, 1953, at the Newhall Courthouse, 105 Market Street, by Judge C.M. MacDougall. They lived at 902 Atwood Blvd., Newhall.

Barbara is one of five children of Lyda (Lydia) Victoria Cooke and Steve D. Manriquez. Lyda/Lydia (born 5-31-1905 in Castaic) is a daughter of Chief Frances Garcia and Frederick S. Cooke. Thus Barbara's heritage can be traced to individuals who lived at Chaguayabit Village (aka Tsawayung) — Castaic Junction — prior to European contact.
