August 16, 1964 — Young Newhall resident Rosalind Wayman demonstrates English riding on the horse Poco at the Pebble Beach Horse Show. Professional 8x10 photograph by Richard Fernandez of Menlo Park.

Rosalind Wayman Daughter of Walter and Marian Wayman, Rosalind grew up on the Wayman Ranch, which straddled San Fernando Road (much later called Newhall Avenue) south of Pine Street, where Walter and Marian had settled by the early 1940s. The family home was located on the hill on the west side of the road at 23643 N. San Fernando, where the Canyon Crest Apartments were built in 1992. The Wayman property extended to the east side of San Fernando Road (Newhall Avenue) where it became the Town & Country Liquor Store complex in 1965. Immediately to its north was the USDA Forest Service Ranger Station, which became a Caltrans yard in about 1975 and an affordable housing complex in 2017.

As an adult, Rosalind Wayman has served as Santa Clarita Valley field deputy to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and his successor, Kathryn Barger.
