FIRST RESERVOIR IN LOS ANGELES

• Buena Vista Reservoir was constructed in 1868-69 by the Los

Angeles Water Company as their first storage facility.

• The embankment was surfaced with riprap, and had a crest elevation

of 378 feet. It was located near what is now the southeastern tip of

Elysian Park.
