A Gift of Time
It is my pleasure to welcome each of you to Canyon High
School's SOth Anniversary Celebration. A half a century ago, a new
high school in the eastern portion of the Santa Clarita Valley opened
its doors to a growing population eager to learn and excited to be- All Hail Canyon High School

ated from the Nadal campus and many have emerged as leaders of
our local community and on the world-wide stage.
As I was looking through the inaugural yearbook {1969),
"Trails," I noticed that the name of the very first production from the
Theater Department was entitled "A Gift of Time." I started thinking
about the fun, the hard work, and all the experiences that created
the Canyon High School of today-Athletic championships, ASB activ-
ities, Performing Arts, Academics, and many other programs helped
make us who we are. These rich memories, steadfast traditions,
and proud heritage have set the standard for Canyon Cowboys old
and new.
Today, we celebrate the achievements that have bridged
generations of those who have worn the green and the gold. A half a
century has come and gone in seemingly a blink of an eye and we
hope that our past has provided opportunities for meaningful reflec-
tion and successful futures. Most of all, we hope you will be inspired
not only by our accomplishments, but also by what we are continu-
ing to build.
I hope you enjoy this evening's celebration. As it was SO years
ago and will be SO years from today, it's
great to be a Cowboy!
