Mint Canyon & Elizabeth Lake

This set of (7) little 2x3-inch photos shows that a family or group of friends enjoyed their 1922 tour of snowy Mint Canyon so much that they returned (or stuck around) for a tour of Bouquet Canyon and Elizabeth Lake in January 1923.

In time, the memories faded and their photos ended up in a flea market or online auction.

But thanks to our intrepid historian and “finder” Sharon Divis, they get a second lease on life as they enter the annals of Santa Clarita Valley history.

Some of the photos have handwritten descriptions on the back; they appear here as captions.

A couple of things that are difficult to see (follow the link below to the original scans): In the third photo (DI2201c), there is a house at lower left. In the fifth photo (DI2201e, Elizabeth Lake), the sign on the tree at right is mostly illegible except for the words, "Dairy Cows," and the name, "Miller." The last two photos were part of this grouping but are unidentified and do not seem to fit with the rest. The last photo might be Mt. Lowe; note the bus on the mountain road.

Steve Lee writes: The last photo [DI2201g] is probably the train to Echo Mountain with Pasadena in the background.
