Cougars Ready For Home Opener Against Citrus

College of the Canyons prepares to open the gates at Cougar Stadium for the first time in 2010 Saturday night. The Cougars will host Citrus, a team the Cougars beat in their last contest back in 2006. COC comes into the game ranked No. 12 in Southern California, while Citrus appears in the rankings for the first time since 2007 at No. 20. Jason Galvin has the preview.

Former COC Football Player to NFL Draft

COC football fans will be tuning in to the 2010 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 22, to watch as Jason Pierre-Paul becomes the first former Cougar to be selected in the first round. The 6-6, 260 pound junior Defensive End from the University of South Florida started his impressive collegiate career right here at College of the Canyons. In 2007, Pierre-Paul racked up 49 tackles, 14 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception which he returned 20 yards for a touchdown, earning First Team All- Western State Conference and First Team All-America accolades. Head Coach Garett Tujague needed only one word to describe Pierre-Paul, “Un-blockable…” ….

COC’s Defensive End Debates Over College Choices

College of the Canyons defensive end, Marquis Jackson, has finally came to a decision after months of contemplating over which school he will attend next semester. Jackson, received interest from schools such as UCLA, USC, ASU, UK and LSU.
