And once again we come upon 9/11. It is a day remembered as when 19 people got out of bed one morning and killed 3,000 of our fellow Americans. Americans of every race, creed, and background were afflicted by the attacks, and still are to this day.

Stevenson Ranch lost one of their own, when U.S. Army Paratrooper, Ian T. D. Gelig, was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Several thousand Santa Clarita residents lined the sidewalks for much of the processional route, an estimated 2,000 of them in Stevenson Ranch alone. Some saluted, some held homemade signs saying “Hero” and “Thank You For Your Service”; most waved American flags.
