Sally Dixon, Ph.D.

Sally Dixon, Ph.D., beloved friend, respected educator, and altruistic humanitarian passed away at home in Newhall, Calif., on Aug. 16, 2012, after battling ovarian cancer for 14 years.

Despite this challenge, Sally remained enthusiastic and passionate about life. She was born Selma Lee Klein on May 17, 1938, in Haverhill, Mass. Sally loved school and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education at Boston University, her Master of Education at Salem State College, and her Doctorate at Walden University.

In 1966, she moved to California and began a 37-year career with the Saugus Union School District teaching grades 2-6. Her students, their parents, and her colleagues revered Sally for her dedication to providing a premier educational experience for children. In addition to her professionalism as a teacher, she actively supported the Saugus Teachers Association where she served as president.

Dr. Dixon participated in the est Training in the early 1970s. She remained a committed student of transformation and the science of teaching until 2011 when she was no longer strong enough to attend seminars.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Estelle Day-Klein and Moses Samuel Klein, and her brother, George Larry Klein.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Highlands Elementary School MPR, 27332 Catala Avenue, Saugus, Calif. 91350.

As a humanitarian and altruist, Sally would appreciate donations be made to one of her favored charities, the SCV Food Bank, American Cancer Society, The Women's Odyssey Organization, Heifer International or Habitat for Humanity.
