Margaret (Peggy) Helen Wutke
Co-owner, Corral Drive-In Theatre (as Peggy Ostrom)


Margaret "Peggy" Helen Wutke, 88, of Canyon Country, Calif., passed away July 15, 2004. She was born Aug. 14, 1915, in North Dakota, and was a previous resident of Las Vegas for 34 years.

Peggy was the first woman to be elected to vice chairman of the Women Republican Headquarters. She spent 20 years doing what she loved to do, Republican Headquarters stuff.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Janet Kovatch of Lancaster, Calif.; daughter-in-law Marion Ostrom of Saugus, Calif.; grandsons Ronald King of Canyon Country, Calif., Dave King of Lancaster, Calif., and Jeff Kovatch of Pennsylvania; granddaughters Cindy Kovatch of Lancaster, Calif., and Cathy Ostrom of Saugus, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 West G St., Ontario, CA 91762.

Webmaster's note: Peggy Wutke, née Long, was born in Steele County, N.D., and married Henry Lawrence "Hank" Ostrom (b. Aug. 31, 1915, in North Dakota) on Jan. 4, 1936, in Fargo. They moved to California by 1942 and started the Corral Drive-In Theatre in Saugus, which lasted until the early 1960s. They had three children and divorced in 1966. Louis Wutke was their business partner in the theater. Hank Ostrom died May 11, 1984, in Kern County.
