Donald Leonard Ogdon
McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed Skunk Works

Donald Leonard Ogdon, 83, a long-time resident of Canyon Country, CA passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, to join his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia Ann Ogdon, who preceded him in 2008. He was born in Los Angeles on January 23, 1933 and grew up in Long Beach.

Donald enjoyed a 44-year career working for aircraft design and construction firms in Southern California, including the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company and the Lockheed Corporation. Early in his career, he worked at the Nevada Area 51 test site and Burbank Skunk Works on the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane. Later he was sent by Lockheed to Okinawa during the Vietnam War to oversee and train crews to operate that secretive spy plane. He worked for the Lockheed Corporation until his retirement in 1997.

Donald loved aircraft design, history, golf, his dog Ahn Li, being with his family, and traveling with Patricia Ann, taking her on trips and cruises all over the world.

He is survived and deeply missed by his son Dana L. Ogdon and his wife Pam, along with Donald's grandchildren, Drew L. Ogdon and Cole P. Ogdon of Huntington Beach, CA; and his daughter Leslie G. Owens and her husband Mike, of Toluca Lake, CA.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the "small chapel" at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321.
