Bertha Laurietta Belanger, LVN


Bertha Laurietta Belanger passed away May 11, 2013, at the age of 94. She was a resident of Valencia, California. Bertha was born February 15, 1919 in Barre, Vermont. She was raised on a farm in Barre.

After marrying her husband, Dona Belanger, they moved out west to Azusa, California in the '40s. Bertha and Dona opened a small grocery store in Azusa. During that time she became a LVN. She was an LVN for 20 years. Bertha was a loving wife to Dona and raised two sons, Donald B. Belanger and Robert R. Belanger.

You might have seen Bertha crossing the street early mornings on McBean and Decoro heading toward the Ralphs shopping center in her big red coat. She enjoyed going to McDonalds and Ralphs first thing each morning. Later in the day you would see her at Starbucks. Having a Caramel Macchiato with extra, extra caramel was her favorite. Bertha enjoyed visiting with friends on her walks. Bertha would share stories of how kind and friendly people were to her. Bertha enjoyed her weekly dinners at Marie Callender's with her grandson Donald. Bertha loved living in Valencia.

Bertha is survived by her grandson, Donald Belanger and wife Sandy, her great grandson Tym Belanger, and great granddaughter Hannah Belanger of Saugus, CA.; her son Don B. Belanger and wife Judy of Elk Grove, CA. and grandson Jim Belanger and his family of Santa Maria, CA. She is also survived by her friends at The Fountain Glen Apartments in Valencia, CA.

A service will be held for Bertha on May 29, 2013 at 4:00pm at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 22508 Copper Hill Dr., Santa Clarita, Calif., 91360.

In lieu of flowers, Bertha's desire would be to use your thoughtful donations to enjoy some special time with someone you love.
