Members of the local Alliklik Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will honor their late colleague Jean Woods on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at two locations in Newhall.

Woods, who moved to Valencia from Seattle in 1975 with her husband John, died three years ago on February 12, 2017. She will be interred Friday, March 6, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Eternal Valley Cemetery, 23287 N. Sierra Highway.

Then, on Saturday, DAR members will dedicate her grave and place the NSDAR insignia on it at 3 p.m. Immediately afterward, a plaque that was recently embedded in the Quester Court section of Heritage Junction Historic Park, inside William S. Hart Regional Park, will be dedicated. The public is welcome to join Woods' children Chris and Lizabeth at both events.

In her 90-year lifetime, Woods, who was born March 19, 1926, was a ceramic artist, floral arranger, legal assistant, old-fashioned telephone switchboard operator and homemaker. She was a regent of the Alliklik Chapter DAR and served as NSDAR District 8 president, as well as recording secretary of the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society in 1984-85.
