Dear Mr. Shea:
As you know the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society
is a new active group of over 200 community residents
dedicated to the preservation of our local history.
It rs our understanding that the eventual closing and
disposition of the Saugus depot is under consideration
by the Southern Pacific Companyo We would therefore
like to indicate to the Southern Pacific Company that the
Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society would very much
like to see this unique old building preserved. Since
our treasury does not have as yet funds for an outright
purchase we would suggest the possibility of a donation
of the building to us by the Southern Pacific Companyo
Perhaps we could use and maintain the building and lease
the land where it stands.
Please advise as to what action we should pursue in this
regard. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
