May 8, 2014 — Old oil field equipment piled up next to the Felton School at Mentryville, birthplace of the West Coast oil industry.

Mentryville is part of a state park managed by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, a joint powers agency headed by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
