The track and field season is officially underway and the Cougars have made tremendous strides due to the chemistry between the athletes.
Guided by mentors such as Coach Kane and Coach Daniel, the athletes have been able to remain level-headed and not put pressure on themselves. With the help of returning athletes, the Cougars have been able to build from last season.
The throwing team has had much success, remaining in the top 5 throughout the season. The throwers have been proud of the team’s overall success but their attention is focused on keeping the momentum going.
The throwers credit much of the team’s success to #1 ranked shot put thrower Jordan Palmer. “It’s not about strength, it’s about technique,” said Palmer. The two-sport athlete is also ranked #2 in the WSC for the discus.
While the team has many upcoming meets, including one this weekend, the group is most excited for State meets toward the end of the season.
