What’s Good On The Shelf: Literature Classics

There’s no better way to spend the chilly holidays than cozying up to a classic novel.
Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is the winner of The Great American Read. This story is told from the perspective of adult Jean Louise, a.k.a Scout, and she is reminiscing of her childhood days growing up in Maycomb County Alabama with her brother Jem. Next is a famous British literature classic, Pride and Prejudice. Written by Jane Austen, the story is about a young lady named Elizabeth Bennet. It is only at first when Elizabeth meets Mr. Darcy, a seemingly snobbish man of wealth, she cannot tolerate him. Last is F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. The use of imagery and color is spectacular! It tells the story of Nick Carraway and his cousin Daisy Buchanan, the girl who Jay Gatsby longs to be with. Remember to fill that shelf for the winter holiday!
