The COC Jazz Ensemble performed at the Performing Arts Center earlier this month with a special guest.
The band played with Dorian Holley, a singer, vocal coach and musician who has worked on American Idol.
Holley was kind enough to share his knowledge and love for jazz music, praising its beauty and complexity, while mentioning that times are changing with the music genre as well.
In addition to Dorian Holley, another jazz performer, William Fischer, shared that he enjoys jazz music as it allows him to express himself.
The two performers also explained that with changing times comes new tastes in music.
However, some popular movies and events are bringing the genre to a new audience, according to Fischer.
For musicians looking for something that has a lot of history that sounds great, jazz might be for you.
