Classes were evacuated at the Canyon Country location of College of the Canyons on Tuesday, following a false, yet shrill, smoke alarm that went off for approximately ten minutes.
The alarm originated from a classroom that was in session at the time, though no smoke or fire were found.
Students and faculty were led down the stairs around 1:30 p.m. to a meeting point at Cougar Way, with more students vocalizing concerns about their loss of study time than their possible safety.
After almost ten minutes, students were allowed to return to their classes once it was found that there was no immediate threat to anyone’s safety.
The cause of the alarm is unknown, though the alarm is thought to have been accidental.
