Three families have lost their homes after an apartment fire burned early Saturday.
Los Angeles County fire fighters responded to an apartment fire in the 18,000 block of Jakes Way in Canyon Country Saturday morning.
According to Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo the fire was reported at 11:34 a.m.
“When we arrived on scene we had a two-story apartment building with smoke and fire showing from the second floor,” Los Angeles County fire fighter Jason Roelling said. “The fire started in the water heater closet between two units and the fire spread into the attic of the apartment.”
According to Marrujo fire fighters requested a second alarm response at 11:58 a.m.
“We requested this response because we needed more man power to get this fire knocked down more quickly,” Roelling said.
Roelling said the three families displaced are receiving help from the American Red Cross.
There were no injuries, and the fire was knocked down at 12:17 p.m.
