Finish the Ride hosted it’s event in Santa Clarita this past weekend to raise awareness and handle the epidemic of hit and run crimes. Cyclist from all over came out to participate in the ride to support the non-profit organizations at the event.
Finished the Ride was founded by bicyclist Damian Kevitt four years ago after he nearly got his life taken away from a hit and run accident. Kevitt was dragged under a car nearly a quarter mile on the 5 freeway. He miraculously survived the accident after losing his leg, losing ten pounds of flesh and breaking ten ribs.
Finish the Ride supports the non-profit organizations Streets are for Everyone (SAFE) and Tactical-180. SAFE works to help people who have suffered traumatic injuries in traffic collisions and to make the streets safer for millions of people in the Southland and across California. Tactical-180 was founded to support military, veterans, first responders and people with disabilities to get back into activities through cycling, running and walking.
The participants in the event all received medals for completing the race they chose to do. The post event festivities included live music, food, drinks, free prizes from sponsors at the event, a silent action and a raffle.
