Registration for the College of the Canyons Summer Institute is now open for all students entering junior high in the fall.
The goal of the Summer Institute is to provide hands-on career exploration and learning opportunities in a variety of areas. The instructors are College of the Canyons professors, student teachers or industry professionals who have tailored their curriculum with junior high students in mind. Each track allows students to explore multiple career possibilities through a unique blend of innovative lesson plans and fun, hands-on activities.
The topics being held in the College of the Canyons Summer Institute are Robotics, Special Effects and Movie Making, Video Game Design, Sports Medicine,Allied Health, Photography, Architecture and Welding, and Engineering and Manufacturing.
The College of the Canyons Summer Institute will go through two different sessions.
Session One will start July 10 to 14 and will include Video Game Design; Robotics; Photography; Sports Medicine; Special Effects and Movie Making; Welding and Introduction to Architecture.
Session Two will start July 17 to 21 and will include Video Game Design; Robotics; Photoshop; Introduction to Architecture; Special Effects and Movie Making; Sun, Wind and Fire and Allied Health.
All sessions begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m with the Cost is $275 per child per week.
