CSUN student fights off would-be kidnapper

A CSUN student fought off a near kidnapping just off the Cal State Northridge campus on Tuesday afternoon according to campus officials.

According to the California State University, Northridge Department of Police Services, the woman was grabbed by behind in a “bear hug” while walking along Dearborn Street just west of the CSUN campus at 3:40 p.m.

The woman said the suspect told her he would kill her if she continued to yell and scream. She eventually fought off the attack and ran toward the CSUN Police Department station about a block away. The woman told authorities she had seen the suspect at the campus library on Monday.

The suspect is described as a white male; 25 to 30 years old; 6-foot, 5-inches tall; with short, dark hair and a five o’clock shadow beard. He was wearing a black T-shirt with an unknown red logo, dark blue jeans, and a tattoo on his right arm of possibly a name.
