It was another successful season for coach Lindie Kane and the COC track & field team as the Cougars sent eight athletes to the CCCAA Track & Field State Championships, with sophomore Jason Hillquist winning the state championship in the 3,000m Steeplechase.

“it was another great season for Cougar Track & Field, we are really blessed with our assistant coaches who did a fantastic job preparing our athletes in their event specialty as we went into the Western State Conference then onto Southern-Cal Championships and now State”

Perseverance was a key for the Cougars, as several athletes battled through injuries all season, Hillquist was one of those athletes and he reflected on his season overall, “The beginning of the season started great, we had high hopes, the goal was to make it to the State meet and now were here so its been successful so far…Individually I had alot of ups and downs, dealing with alot of injuries, I’m still dealing with a couple injuries right now but I’m so close to the end I’m going to keep pushing through.”

The school also announced that five student-athletes will be transferring to the next level to continue their Track careers
