The Santa Clarita City Council unanimously approved an ordinance addressing the use of electronic smoking devices in public.

The September 20th ordinance, limits the use of e-cigarettes, also known as vaping, in the workplace, at City facilities and vehicles, and will include public parks, open spaces and trails.

The ordinance must go through a second reading before it can be formally adopted which is scheduled for next Tuesday’s meeting October 13, 2015. If passed, the ordinance would go into effect on November 12, 2015 and Santa Clarita will follow in the footsteps of big cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles who have limited the smokeless devices where cigarette smoking is already prohibited.
