The Santa Clarita Public Library will host “The Great California ShakeOut” at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 as a way for residents to practice earthquake preparedness.
The Great California ShakeOut is a statewide earthquake drill held annually. The event is an opportunity for the community, schools and organizations to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies, as well as secure space in order to prevent damage and injuries.
“Major earthquakes can and will happen here in Santa Clarita,” Mayor Marsha McLean said. “The ShakeOut drill is a perfect opportunity to prepare an emergency recovery plan with family members, coworkers and schoolmates.”
Registration for The Great California ShakeOut is available online. Patrons at the Santa Clarita Public Library branches during the drill will be asked to participate. Those who join in will receive a small token of appreciation and the opportunity to win a survival pack.
