26 years is a long time, and for one Saugus man, all that time will be spent behind bars.
Eric Earle, 43, who was found guilty of killing his girlfriend Karla Brada, 32, in September was sentenced 26 years to life in prison by a San Fernando Superior Court judge for Brada’s murder on Monday, October 27.
Brada was found dead on the morning of Sept. 1, 2011 inside the couple’s condominium in Saugus. A medical examiner determined that Brada was smothered to death between the night of Aug. 31 and the morning of Sept. 1, 2011.
Six people, many of them friends and relatives of the murder victim, spoke on her behalf at Earle’s sentencing Monday.
Deputy District Attorney Elena Abramson presented evidence at trial showing that Earle not only assaulted Brada on other occasions but that he also had beaten his former wife.
According to a lawyer who attended Monday’s sentencing, the verdict came as a relief to Brada’s parents.
