A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck in the Los Angeles area at 6:25 a.m., centered 9 km NNW of Westwood. The quake, initially reported as a 4.7 magnitude, was downgraded to a 4.4. The jolt was felt as far as Santa Monica, Brea, Riverside and Palmdale.
Metro trains are delayed as authorities check the rail lines for damage. Street travel may be delayed as well as officials check bridges for missing pieces and threats to structural integrity. No injuries or damages have been reported to the quake.
This was the second earthquake felt in Southern California in three days. On Saturday, the Santa Clarita Valley was hit by a 3.9 magnitude.
