“Fast and Furious” actor Paul Walker, 40, died Saturday after a fiery car crash in Valencia. The driver of the Porsche Walker was in also died in the collision.
Walker’s death was confirmed by his publicist on his official Facebook page. It read:
“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. – #TeamPW“
The crash happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Hercules Street near Constellation Road in the Rye Canyon Business Park, fire officials said. By the time the fire was out, the car was a unrecognizable pile of metal.
Walker’s friend, and the driver of the Porsche, was identified as Roger Rodas.
Two passers by caught video of the wreck right after it happened and posted it to their Facebook page.
About six hours after the crash, two bodies were removed from the vehicle and it was loaded on a flatbed to be towed away.
Walker is survived by his 15-year-old daughter.
