Hart High School has contributed much of its success to the well-rounded Myles Franklin. The 5-foot-11-inch, 160 pound point guard is now in his junior year and has worked extremely hard to achieve his goals.
Franklin started playing basketball at the age of six .Since the competition is fierce, Franklin joined AAU to prepare him for a higher-level of basketball where he will be able to compete with older, bigger, and stronger high school players. Franklin’s older brother David has also been an enormous influence in Myles’ success.
Not only does David help Myles with his basketball performance, but videotapes his workouts and posts them to the internet. In addition, Myles says that his dad is trying to have him focus in defense as well as his shooting and his dribbling.
Unlike other talented players who have been known to transfer to different prep programs, Franklins says he has a lot of confidence in Hart High and will continue playing for the school.
Even though Franklin’s talent and self-assurance shines on the court, he is constantly working on his skills and improving his weaknesses. He has also grown more as a leader this summer. He says that his teammates respect him because of what he has accomplished over the years.
His success on the court has led him to being selected to travel to Australia to represent California in July.
Hart High School was twenty five and three last year and looks to improve on that this year with Franklin and teammate Lewis Stallworth.
