College of the Canyons Cougars crush Bakersfield College 42-14 to extend their win streak to four straight games.
Once again, COC’s defense had an outstanding game. In the first quarter it was their defense who scored first. putting the Cougars up 7-0. In the second quarter the offense woke up as Tony Dawson hit Vincent Strange down the middle for a 21-yard touchdown pass.
After a turnover by COC, Bakersfield would get on the board to make it 14-7.
With just 20 seconds left in the half, Dawson found Louis Gipson in the back of the end zone to make it 21-7 at the half.
In the second half, COC’s defense shut down Bakersfield. Canyons held Bakersfield, a run-heavy team to only 58 yards rushing for the game.
After a touchdown run by Matt Bowen and Da’John Ganes, and a touchdown pass from Jake Dashnaw, Bakersfield would score with a little over two minutes to go.
COC would get the first points as Bakersfield would hand it off and Ryan McAleenan would get pressure forcing the running back to go outside were he was hit and jarred the ball loose which was recovered by COC’s Austin Murrillo.
Tony Dawson then shuffled to his right and found an open Vincent Strange for the score.
With seconds to go before half Dawson would make a beautiful pass over two defenders and find Louis Gipson in the back of the endzone.
Matt Bowen would get on the score sheet after a 10-yard run.
Jake Dashnaw found a streaking Travion Tucker down the left for a 20-yard touchdown pass.
J. Dashnaw went 14-17 for 113 yards and one touchdown.
T. Dawson would go 8-8 for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Dawson also led the Cougars in rushing with 66 yards.
