The event shortly kicked of after nine o’clock Saturday morning where a number of people turned out to this charitable event to help raise awareness and funds about domestic violence in the Santa Clarita Valley.
“Domestic violence is everywhere,” said Linda Daives Executive Director of Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley. “We want women to know where they can come where their voice can be heard.”
The 5K route for the event was modified around COC and through cross country course where the participants were in stored for a purple surprise.
Volunteers were place around the course dowsing the walkers with purple powder that was made of flour from India mixed with corn starch.
Last year the center served 625 women in the Santa Clarita Valley that were experiencing some form of domestic violence.
