Video: Brush fire near Six Flags Magic Mountain

A brush fire broke out behind Six Flags Magic Mountain Tuesday afternoon.
Smoke was visible from all parts of the Santa Clarita Valley due to strong winds fanning the smoke from the burn location.

As of 2:25 p.m., the fire has burned 55 acres and is 80% contained.

As of 2:03 p.m., the fire has burned 55 acres and is 30% contained.

An aggressive attack was launched around 1 p.m. which included:

  • On the ground: 22 engines, 11 camp crews, two dozer teams, three water tenders
  • In the air: Four¬†helicopters, three patrols, four air tankers

David Perez is a new media journalist, who currently works for KHTS AM 1220, the Santa Clarita Valleys only radio station. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts from Cal. State Univ. Northridge after spending his senior year studying abroad at the University of Hull in Yorkshire, England in 2011. David started writing for Cougar News after taking a Media Entertainment Arts class in 2012.

In his free time David enjoys traveling, swing dancing, playing the ukulele and acting.
