Hundreds of people gathered to see the stars at the Canyon Country Campus. The Star Party is an event hosted twice a year by College of the Canyons. This event provides the opportunity to see the night sky, planets, and the stars.
Dr. Steve B Howell, a member of the Kepler Science Team and specializes in research on variable and binary stars, delivered a brief orientation lecture based on his recent project.
Organizers also had telescopes with high resolutions open to the public, giving the audience a closer connection to the universe. The COC Astronomy and Physics Club were also part of this event providing information and answering concerns and background from different topics.
The Star Party is an event for all ages and was free to the public. Each year this event is becoming bigger and people are showing more interest. “It was our 6th star party and it went fantastic, great presentations and a lot of questions from the audience,” Canyon Country Campus Assistant Dean of Student Services Ryan Theule stated.
