The 8-6 COC Women’s volleyball team lost to 6-4 conference rival Bakersfield on Wednesday night in the Cougar Den.

The Cougars came out confident and won the first set of the night 27-25.

It looked like the Cougars were in rhythm beginning the second set with a 5-0 run, before Bakersfield battled back and won 25-19.

Into the third set and Bakersfield looked like they had the momentum going up 16-11, before the Cougars scored four straight to put them down 16-15.

That was as close as they would get however when Bakersfield began to pull ahead once again winning the third set 25-21.

The Cougars scored the first point in the fourth set and kept it close the entire time, but couldn’t pull it out, losing 26-24.

COC drops to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play. They travel to West LA Friday night in another conference matchup.

Cougars Ashley Pagan and Kelsea Hundtoft both had 13 kills, and Jordan Carter chipped in 40 assists in the loss.
