The College of the Canyons Cougar football team got their first win of the season at home against the Pasadena City College Lancers on Saturday night behind a lights out defensive performance and breakout game from quarterback Ryan Kasdorf.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Lancers were finally able to put points on the board with a field goal by kicker Martin Magana with just over four minutes to play in the half.
After another scoreless possession by the Cougars, it looked like the Lancers were headed to the locker room with the lead when they fumbled near COC’s twenty yard line, which lead to a quick touchdown in the corner of the end-zone from Kasdorf to wide-out Dan Vear.
The half ended with the Cougars up 7-3.
Kasdorf came into the second half firing, and hit Vear for a second touchdown from 12 yards out with 12:24 to play in the third.
After the teams traded field goals in the third, Kasdorf once again went to the air and hit receiver Dijon Barnes for a 24 yard touchdown putting the Cougars up 22-6 with 1:21 left in the third.
Early in the fourth Kasdorf took to his feet and rushed for another touchdown putting the Cougars up 29-6 with 11:25 remaining.
The defense did the rest allowing only one more Lancer touchdown with 4:12 to play in the game.
COC backup quarterback Ben Longshore managed to throw one more touchdown pass to receiver Kenny Feyh leaving the Cougars with a score of 36-14 to end the game.
Kasdorf finished 18-32 for 296 yards and 4 scores, including one rushing touchdown.
