Phil Gussin had an unusual start to his career as a professor. He became a plumbers assistant in the 1980s after he separated from his first wife in order to support himself and his children and put his eduction on hold.
After almost a two decade hiatus, Gussin returned to school and received his masters from CSUN, a second masters from UCLA and eventually his Ph.D from UCLA in 2007. He then went on to teach at UCLA, Pepperdine and other California community colleges.
Gussin settled here at COC after deciding that it was the place that he felt truly comfortable at. In his free time, Gussin likes to keep his vegetable garden up to spec and loves spending his weekends planting and picking fresh vegetables.
