Cougars win final game of regular season

After defeating West LA College 9-2 this past Thursday, the Cougars earned a play in game with Santa Barbara this afternoon for a right to play on the CCC Baseball Southern California playoffs.

Starting pitcher John Salas was on the mound for the Cougars and he came out hot through the first three inning, and struck out six. Salas went eight strong innings, struck out 11, allowed six hits ,two runs, one of which was earned.

The Cougars struck in the first when Drew Sandler lined the ball into center field to score Chad DeLaguerra. West LA’s Tametrius Green tied the game up in the fourth when Salas couldn’t throw out the runner at home.

James Bonds led the team in hits and RBI’s with three each. Adam Bouyer gave the Cougars the lead for good when he ripped a single to left field to score Michael Browne.

The Cougars will now face Santa Barbara City College in a one game playoff with the winner going on to face No. 2 Rio Hondo, a team the Cougar’s have already beat this season.

If the Cougars win, they would play a best two of three series beginning on Saturday.
