Sociology in Action

In early March, Cal State Norhtridge hosted the sociology in action conference. Students gathered from local community colleges including College of the Canyons.

Students listened to the well versed professors give insight to their experiences through sociology along with tips on transferring from a two year college to a four year university.

A panel of local and regional experts shared insight that touched on a variety of topics.

Dr. Zack Knor Spoke about the American Federation of teachers, following advice on how to organize for success.

Mike Chavez from UC Riverside gave a well spoken example on why one should be against exploiting children in sweat shops.

Additionally, this lengthy conference contained a free lunch, raffle drawing, followed by a breakout session.

The afternoon concluded with several professor’s general opinions of sociology, and how social welfare and social justice affect our society.
