The Hart swim team highlighted by several fast performances, opened the 2012 campaign with a pair of impressive swims against Canyon High at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center on Wednesday.
Sophomore Matt Johnson qualified for the CIF Division One standard with a blazing time of 4:43:42 in the 500 free. Senior Nicole Antoniuk also became an automatic CIF qualifier with a time of 5:05:84 in the 500 free.
But several other Indians including Johnson’s older brother, also swam to CIF consideration. Senior Mitch Johnson began his year with a 1:45:13 in the 200 freestyle and 53.66 in the 100 butterfly. On the girls side, freshman Mik Ranslem cruised to wins in the 200 individual medley in 2:08:73 and the 100 butterfly in 59:69.
Both Indians squads are in a rarified air. The Hart girls who beat Canyon 132-38 haven’t lost the league title since 1982. Meanwhile, the Hart boys who crushed the Cowboys 133-73, are riding a 67 dual meet win streak.
