The National Champion College of the Canyons Cougar Hockey team is headed back to New Jersey this week in an attempt to defend their title at Nationals.

After bringing home the ACHA trophy last year the Cougars had another strong season going 20-7.

Their only seven losses were against division two opponents.

The Cougars however feel they have a strong group of guys and are confident going into this weeks tournament.

“Chemistry’s good this year.” said Cougar Ben Conroy.” Were going in confident, going in strong, and going in hard.”

COC also made history this season at the PCHA playoffs, winning the Adams Cup for the fourth consecutive season.

The players are happy with their performance but are focusing on the National Championship.

“Were expected to win,” said Cougar Wayne Ravdjee.” “You know its nice to get four in a row for our great coaches.”

Head coach John Taferner however realizes the magnitude of what his team has done.

“Having that four-peat was really our goal for this season,” said Taferner.” “And that’s something that wont be repeated any time soon.”

The Cougars have one more practice tonight before flying to New Jersey.

The hunt for the trophy begins March 14, when the Cougars take on Davenport.
