After losing to Allan Hancock on Tuesday, the Cougars returned the favor at home this past Thursday beating the Bulldogs 6-3.
The Cougars found themselves in an early hole when Jacob Cano’s single drove home Andrew Clark.
The Cougars tied it up a few moments later when with the bases loaded James Bonds works a walk to score a run.
In the fourth with runners on first and third, Kevin Lenik singled to left field scoring Connor Garelick.
The Cougars led by one but they weren’t done scoring in that inning as Chad DeLaGuerra singled up the middle to score James Bonds.
Jake Jelmini homered in the fifth to add to the Cougars lead.
The 9th inning had its share of drama as Cougars Head Coach Chris Cota went with his catcher, Drew Sandler to close out the game.
With a 4 run cushion, Sandler allowed a late run to score but the finished out the game with a strikeout.
Sandler’s versatility proved to be a huge boost for the Cougars.
“I just like to play baseball, I want to do anything that will help the team win, ” said Sandler.
