The Board of Trustees at West Kern Community College District appointed College of the Canyons’ Dr. Dena Maloney as Superintendent-President of Taft College.
Maloney served as Assistant Superintendent-Vice President of the Canyon Country Campus since 2009.
“The Board of Trustees is very pleased that Dr. Maloney has accepted the CEO position at Taft College,” said WKCCD Board President Billy White said.
According to Chancellor Dr. Dianne Van Hook, the Economic Development Division at COC has generated more than $15 million in revenue under Maloney’s leadership.
“I have been inspired by Dena as she stretched and grew and eagerly took on new responsibilities and worked to broaden her contributions to our district,” Van Hook said.
In 2001, Maloney became Dean of Economic Development and was selected as the founding dean of the Canyon Country Campus.
Van Hook stated that while at the Canyon Country Campus, Maloney helped lay a foundation of success for the campus during its first five years of operation.
Maloney started her career at COC in the early 1990’s working part-time helping to provide training to the local business community.
Seven years later she was hired full-time as the Director of the Employee Training Institute.
“I will miss her immensely…” Van hook said. “She will be an excellent leader and CEO who can help Taft continue to thrive in challenging times…”
Maloney will assume her new duties on May 1, 2012.
