The seventh seeded College of the Canyons Lady Cougars took on the fifteenth seeded San Bernardino Valley College Wolverines in the second round of the CCCAA South Women’s Playoffs. The Cougars lost a heartbreaker, 2-1.
After a close first half that ended with no goals the Wolverines was able to get on the board quickly when Mariela Ortega’s shot from outside the box was lobbed over COC goalkeeper Linda Hernandez just under two minutes into the second half.
The Wolverines add another just four minutes later on a Milan Galloway on a break away when she place a shot a right of Hernandez to put the Wolverines up by two.
The Lady Cougars tried to come back when Casey Wesley corner kick bounces off of a couple of people and ends up right in front of Brittani Stumbo who capitalizes on the opportunity the bring the Lady Cougars within one. The Lady Cougar’s comeback attempt fell short in the 2-1 loss
