NEWHALL – Locals young and old joined the Santa Clarita City Council Thursday morning on the grounds of the Old Town Newhall Library construction site to sign a column of the building’s steel tower.
The building is slated to be the city’s newest library, replacing the existing smaller building a few blocks away.
According to the library’s website, the $25 million building will house 135,000 media items ranging from 75,000 titles to 120 current magazine subscriptions.
The two-story 26,000 square foot building will also feature 190 reader seats, 110 meeting seats and 68 public-use computers.
The city expects the new library to open mid 2012.
