Robbery Suspect Caught At COC

A suspect wanted for an attempted robbery at a nearby supermarket, and later fled was arrested by LA County Sheriff’s deputies on campus on Tuesday.
L.A. County Sheriff’s officials said the suspect attempted to steal groceries from the Albertsons at 26840 The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch. Security tried to detain the man, and after a short struggle, the suspect fled on a bicycle.
Minutes later, SCV Sheriff’s Station Field Sergeant Brian Allen said the suspect was spotted near the COC football field. Allen said the suspect ditched his bicycle, and then proceeded south through campus.
Sheriff’s officials also requested help from COC Campus Safety to apprehend the man. The unarmed suspect was quickly located and taken into custody without incident near the South Parking lot.

A short time later, the suspect was transported to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station. He will be booked for strong-armed robbery according to the Sheriff’s Station.
Campus Safety briefly put the school on a perimeter lockdown which meant that all vehicles leaving campus were subject to search.
