Canyon High Teacher Arrested in Drug Sting

A Canyon High School math teacher was arrested Saturday in Camarillo after he allegedly provided marijuana to an undercover deputy at a Motel 6, according to various news organizations.

Ashraf Boulos Hindi, 29, was arrested by the Ventura County Sheriff’s through a sting operation that was set up after an undercover officer posed as a female seeking male companionship on, and then began interacting with Hindi. He was charged with suspicion of transporting and offering a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and transporting/furnishing marijuana. His bail was set at $50,000.

Hindi, looking to lure the “female” into meeting, reportedly offered to bring cocaine, marijuana and alcohol. Hindi only brought marijuana to the motel, but a small amount of cocaine was later found at his residence in Canyon Country. Hindi identified himself to the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail as a schoolteacher employed by the William S. Hart School District in Santa Clarita. He was immediately detained by authorities upon arrival to the motel.

“We were made aware of the Saturday arrest of a Canyon High School teacher in Camarillo for narcotics possession,” Hart District spokeswoman Gail Pinsker stated in a release. “No students or minors were involved in his alleged illegal activity nor were any other Hart District staff. We are monitoring the situation and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with California Education Code and District Policy.”

A Facebook page entitled “I Will Defend Ash Hindi Until I Die” could be found as of Monday night.
