Mike Penberthy, The Master’s College all-time leading scorer, had his number retired Tuesday. He is the first former player in the school’s history to receive that honor.
Penberthy played for The Master’s College from 1993-1997. In addition to becoming their all-time leading scorer, he is also the college’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made, free throws made, and free throw percentage. He was also named a NAIA First Team All-American during his junior and senior seasons.
After his career at The Master’s College, Penberthy was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers and was a member of their 2001 NBA Championship team.
